dh & his helper dug the hole for the footings & poured the cement today. that man never does things in a small way. I envisioned a humble abode for the goats - he gets a car port that some guy ordered & didn't come back for & was a bargain. now I have to figure out what other critters I might dream up to fill that carport.
I think i'm going to get pygmy goats. they're a meat breed & they're small enough I should be able to handle them. I wanted myotonics, but they're too pricey for a beginner that doesn't even know if she's going to keep them or not. the fence is up, the housing soon to be up. a few piles of debris to be removed from the fenced area & it should be ready to go.

sure wish I had a mentor when i'm coming up w/these hair-brained ideas. hubby just says 'whatever you want dear' & goes back to his projects. he finally said when I was talking incessantly about how I was going to do the killing of the chickens, "you know you're going to have to quit talking about it and just do it, don't you?" after puffing up about it I had to laugh - he's right. i'm just one of those people who talks about a thing until not a further word could be spoken of it just so I get it worked out and lined out in my mind. then it's a go.

Depending on what, exactly, the debris piles are - you could probably leave them. Goats LOVE to climb on things.

I thought you were going to ask for some plans, BJ.

Then I could show you this nifty cooperative extension website. (No, Nifty didn't draw these. Probably his grandfather wasn't even born when someone drew some of them ;).):

I am convinced that I think with words. Maybe, most people do. It means, I think more clearly when I put thoughts into words. So, I talk about things. Write about things . . . Finally, I do things :p.

I'm terribly envious that you have building going on!

Bless his black heart, Randy is the worlds greatest procrastinator. I don't bother asking for anything elaborate anymore, even though he could build a palace out of a book of matches and a sippee cup. He is like McGyver crossed with Frank Lloyd Wright. I just beg for help putting up simple cattle panel and tarp shelters before my sheep lamb/goats kid/minus 25 degree weather hits...this is what has to happen before he will start anything.

When it gets crowded enough, or starts to interfere with his meals or tv, things finally begin to happen LOL

 peteyfoozer, the pic that cracks me up the most is the calf, except the look on the sheep's faces as they come in the door looks like "what's for dinner?"
