Just thought that I would let people know that my yard has alot of moles and gophers in it and I lost several bulb plants due to them. I tried the gum method with no obvious results, but in an act of desperation, I planted garlic right next to all the plants that I was worried about and have not lost another plant in 2 years. The garlic flavors the soil and the rodents avoid it's nasty scent. Also, my rosebush had horrible aphids on it until I added the garlic and within 2 weeks I had no more aphids. I hope that my experience helps someone to not lose any plants.

I have something eating my beets. Not the tops just the the beet.

The strange thing is I put one row of beets in my raised bed of garlic.
