Those little red taters sure are bright red. The Russet made the biggest one. Blue ones not far behind. Picked about half the plants entirely. Ya know, taters can be fast for little ones.

Now the young Berries and Limas can have more light. I could hear Marionberry thanking me. That's the one that was a rooted cutting. Lacianatus is going to be very happy too.

Speaking of potatoes--Am I the only one that didn't know that blue potatoes are healthier for you? The dark color indicates high level of antioxidents. Or at least that's what they said on TV. And they don't lie, do they?

I am way far behind you. I never even heard of purple potatoes until last year. I ordered some and planted them, then we got monsoon rains and most of them drowned. :hit But I have a few survivors and can't wait to dig them up to see what I get!!

Antioxidants do seem to have something to do with plant pigments.

Why this is so, I haven't got it sorted out in my head (and probably never will . . .).

If it is indeed the deal, then something other than white should have more antioxidants.

I am sorry yours drowned. I sure hope they taste good. I ordered from the Potato Garden and planted 10 pounds of the Purple Majesty and they are the prettiest and strongiest potato plants I have ever grown. My friend in Kansas said the same about her plants too. I can't wait to see how many we get and see what they taste like.

Honeycomb, they were put in around mid March.

Digit, some of those pigments are called Anthocyanic Acids.
