Just had to share my excitement with others who love to garden. I came in to work today and one of my co-workers asked me if I would like a greenhouse?" Well of course! :weee It is a very small one, 6x8x7, but I am so thankful for this blessing. I can use it to start my plants and then if I find it to be too small, I can turn it into housing for my turkeys or meat birds.

Lucky you Stubbornhill! I'm sure you will love it and is it possible to "add a room" to it if it's too small? With a small one you have the opportunity to start small and experiment with it.

Now that is exciting!! You will really enjoy using it. Just remember, even seeds started in the greenhouse, need to be hardened off...Enjoy!

You are going to have a seriously enjoyable learning experience!

I worked in a greenhouse for several years. Get a couple thermometers. A hi/lo is ideal. Ventilation and some kind of fan really make things better, a lot. There are good books about having a greenhouse. How much, how little to water in winter...

That is so awesome especially in Maine, you'll be able to add so much more time to your gardening.

Thanks all! I am very excited. Both ends open up and two windows on each side. Maybe this weekend or next we can get it set up and then get a jump start. I just have to figure out what I want to experiment with. If anyone has any suggestions of what are good things for beginers to start with, don't be shy!

Make it something super easy-spinach, lettuce, onions... Something that won't be too delicate, while you figure out the temps! Do you have any seeds started in the house right now? You could always bring them out for a little sunshine.

Make sure you have comfortable to work with shelves, know where the light is, have shade lovers on the north, several thermometers, a good draining floor, easy to clean...
