This weekend we got below zero temps. On Fri I saw my nephew, I tried giving him a bottle of dry gas for his truck. He told me he did not need, it all gas now has it all ready added. It is 9 degrees now, he just called he can't start his truck. I was shallow and said I told you so, he hung up on me LOL.

You know perfectly well that he didn't call to hear that. He hung up on you -- that means he has someone else in mind to call for assistance. That's not a bad thing. You didn't want to be out in that weather anyway.

You might offer that bottle of HEET (gas dry by the name I know) after asking him to put one bottle in your vehicle for you.

Young people tend to believe we're old foggies because we're over 30, therefore, much of what we say is outdated and of little use. They also tend to believe what they hear on television and radio ads over us. Someday they will be ready to listen.

Perhaps this is a good time for your Nephew to learn about gas line freeze and how it can be prevented with a simple step every few deep winter fill ups. I hear you are experiencing your coldest temperatures in a very long time. Reason enough for young grasshopper to not expect freezing in his gas line.

Hopefully, this cold snap is nearing its end and it will be many a winter before the Nephew needs to remember his wise Uncle Alex and the bottle of HEET again.

I saw your weather Nyboy. It's crazy how it jumps so high and so fast. We are still in our heat wave. Yesterday I had to actually change into shorts because I was so hot. Mind you, I'm the one that freezes at 65°. :p

Heet dries out the water vapor in the gas line and really helps your gasoline flowing smoothly in the wintertime. You pour one bottle in when you fill your tank. DH and I argued years ago about using the diesel version, until it hit -20 and the gas line froze. WHILE in the shop with the salamanders on the engine...he changed his mind.
NOW, we can keep both trucks in the garage and they each have an engine plug in. I try to ply the truck in for at least one hour before starting up when the temperatures are below 40 degrees F--Diesel engines HATE the cold.
Sorry about your immature nephew.
I have one DD like that, soon to be 33yo and claiming victim status.

VA weather:
Monday - shoveling 2" of snow topped with 1" of ice.
Tuesday - windows open enjoying the warm breeze
Wednesday - who knows - maybe spend my lunch break feeding the purple unicorns and watching the rainbows tie themselves in bows.......

how did the unicorn feeding go...?
and how was the rainbow tieing party go....
