It's hard to have horses and no trailer. When we moved, our son saved the day by showing up with a trailer and hauling our equine friends to their new home. We had a trailer at one time, but the metal supports rusted out under the floor and it was no longer safe, so we sold it. I went to our DD's house a few weeks ago to cruise Craigslist and found a deal on a trailer. And it was only 20 miles from us! So I wrote down the info and DH and I went to go see it.

It looked pretty good. Didn't know the age, it had a few rust spots (metal termites), the paint was faded, but had barely been used. There was still paint on the floor boards. The tires were new. The trailer jack was broken and had a side mount jack welded on one side. The light plug didn't match ours, lights were broken, lens missing. Asking price $3500. We offered $2500, it was countered at $2900. We left.

I looked around some more, nothing looked as good as what we had seen. There are some raggedy wore out piles of metal masquerading as trailers out there for sale. They need hualed to the scrap yard. Anyway, we finally decided to pay the $2900 and went and got the trailer. We took it for the needed repairs, got a new jack, LED lights and plug, and a free used spare tire thrown in for good measure.

Now we can go get our 3 feeder pigs we're getting in a few weeks. One for us, one for our neighbor and his wife, Robert and Sharon, and one for our friends from BYH, Devonviolet. We're going to feed them out over the winter and butcher them in the spring. And we can take them for slaughter in our trailer! We can also use it when we finally get the fencing done and a shelter up for sheep. We are excited about our new (to us) trailer!

Hey, girlfriend! That's a nice looking trailer. Probably more red than fuchsia, but CL buyers can't be overly choosy. It looks like a good deal. I'm hoping the repairs didn't cost overly much and that you get years and years of useful fun and work out of the new purchase.

It does look fairly new from the photos you posted. . . HEY, YOU'RE POSTING PHOTOS AGAIN! So pleased that you are finally back on the 'real' internet with us.

As soon as I saw the title, my eyes zipped over to be sure Nyboy wasn't at CL again. Actually, he's probably never left CL, but either has been exercising financial restraint or failing to tell us of his CL adventures for a while.

Red don't knock CL you can get some great deals !!!! Bay I know nothing of horse trailer, but from photos looks really good shape. What kind of truck needed to pull that loaded with a horse? Good luck with it.

@thistlebloom yes it has head room for horses. It has a gate in the nose where we could put saddles to keep the horses from stepping on them. And it has a divider gate in the middle to separate them two by two. There is an escape door on the side in the front half.

@Nyboy we have a 2004 Ford F250 Lariat diesel that is a pulling machine. It will walk and talk when pulling a trailer.

The trailer appears to be made for horses. Great that it can also be used for MANY more things. A good find.

There are stock trailers that don't have the height for a horse, since horses have a higher head carriage than cattle.
The folks that bought my last horse tried to load him in a low stock trailer and he jerked his head up and cut his poll. :(
