Garden Master
Yesterday I whent on the pre- tour of the gardens that were selected to be on this year's Clark County Garden Tour for this comming Sunday. One of the homes that was selected was in a Habitat for Humanity subdivision in Vancouver, Wa.. The house sits at the end of a very narrow, paved, one and a half block long one lane road with ditches on both sides. This alone should not have been approved as a housing development. Case in point... the first house on this road had recently completely been gutted due to a fire as the fire trucks had difficulty to come to put out the fire. Our two vans for the members of this pre- tour had to back out of this road as we couldn't turn around because every driveway had a one car wide driveway with a car parked in them. Total incometence in our view as to any fire, police, ambulance or any other event that restricts the residents into a bottle neck. Last year we had just over 200 people tour my garden, just how could even a small number of vehicular trafic handle this potential amount of visitors ? The residents of this home planted quite a number of flowering plants, a couple blueberry bushes, an apple and a pear tree on their small lot but it looked shabby due to MANY weeds. Selected for political correctness ?
