My kids work weekends so we will celebrate next week and later when things are a little slower.
This weekend I've been paring down my closet, kitchen, pantry, bathroom, and garage. So it's been a very productive Mother's Day weekend which I love. The Tiny House movement is making me realize that I have too much stuff. Trying to keep what I need and love only.
Thanks @Nyboy ! On the closet.....pity my poor husband.....I threw out the crappy wire racks that postured as closet hangers before we moved in. My poor husband has been living out of clothing boxes ever since. I finally built his closet organizer about a month ago. He is delighted. The boxes got cut open and spread on the garden as weed suppressing mulch.
It has been a very nice day. DH and both sons painted my kitchen. YEAH, it had been 8 years and needed it badly. I will not even complain that I had to buy the paint 1st. Also got flowers, bird food and gift card to Applebee's.
Son and daughter-in-law gave me the hanging basket.
I noticed that the humming bird feeder in my flower tower was doing down so I watched for the hummer. Nope! The Baltimore Orioles were having a tiny feast so I added a bigger feeder for them.
Think they would sit still for a photo? Dratted birds! Of course not! Here's the best I could do -- orioles in the tree.
Sausages. We buy the local ones from a butcher who raises his own beef.
The ones we had tonight were jalapeno cheese. With a little dijon and sauerkraut piled on top in the bun...so good! We put the corn (soaked and still in the husks) next to the coals until the husks were nice and toasted, then peel back the husk and eat piping hot just as is, no butter or seasoning. It's the best!
We had a good time with our two boys, just sitting around the fire pit talking and laughing. Best Mothers Day ever.
