Having trouble getting good carrots?

If the problem is too many rocks or too hard a soil try ball carrots. They form like a beet and if the ground is too rocky or has too much clay for good penetration they just push up instead of forking. These are Tonda Di Parigi, a French heirloom carrot but if you look around there are other ball types available.I got my seed from Botanical Interests.

These are on my list to try. I'm having a hard time with carrots anyways... I'm going to try some I got from Boggy this time around and see how it does! :cool: I would like to try these at the same time.

Those are cute carrots. How big around do they get? They would definitely be easier to dig up than longer carrots.

I don't have to dig mine at all. They pop right out of the ground with just a tug. They get about twice the size of a golf ball. After that they tend to get woody. Another advantage is they can be grown in planter boxes on a patio since the roots are shallow.
