Help For Bare Root Paw Paw

I ordered this paw paw on ebay. When it arrived barerooted 3 green sprouts where just breaking out. i potted tree up, and placed in shade. The 3 green sprouts are now starting to turn brown no new shoots showing. it been about 2 weeks. Whats going on with tree?

As an assumption - a problem with roots. Young shoots have developed at the expense of the capacity of the barrel. Such as spring tree branch in a glass of water. Roots did not work, the power is not received, the shoots withered.

Is tree doomed ? Anything I can do ? Hard to find potted Paw paw where I live

98 to 2 that it is doomed. Maybe you can buy the seeds. They need stratification. But it's a long time. Surely someone grows seedlings. But not e-Bay. Plants is not a strong point for them.

If the lowest shoot is still more green than brown, I would cut the plant back to just above the lowest shoot. When a plant is dug, so many of the roots are lost that cutting the trunk back is necessary. The companies don't always do the needed cutting back since that would mean the 4 foot 'tree' they advertised would be closer to 2 feet after pruning.
