Help! What's eating my garden?

Looking for them with a flashlight at night doesn't work too well either. As soon as the light hits them they curl up and drop to the ground and since they blend in with soil they are hard to spot even if they are large.

The term gopher covers a lot of different animals. Most of them are pretty small. Marshall has had a lot of experience with some of these.

Woodchucks and groundhogs are the same thing just different names, probably regional. They are a lot bigger than what people normally think of as gophers. I don't consider them the same thing but some people might.

All of them are pests and could be doing that damage.

I've eaten many a woodchuck and they are quite tasty. I'd have to be pretty hungry to try a gopher.

Like frog legs, you'd need a lot of gophers to make a decent meal of gopher meat. Pretty sure you'd be down to "eat or die" before wasting your time on these tiny tidbits.

TIP. If you want to get rid of gophers never let your kids find out they'll pop their heads up and eat bread out of your hand.
