Help with shiitake mushroom kit?

Anyone here ever grown mushrooms from one of those fruiting kits?

My husband got one in early May, and kept forgetting to harvest the mushrooms. (Argh!) I'm wondering if they might be too old now to harvest? The edges are curled up, and the gills underneath look "crimped" instead of straight in pattern. They are dark brown on top, yellow underneath, and look more like dried shiitakes! I'm wondering if they are still safe to eat or if I should just throw them out (seems like such a waste).

Anyone with experience care to share input? Thanks!

There was a lady who posted on here with some wonderful results on many mushroom from a kit... I can not remember where she posted... but if you look back at least in the last 2 months it should be here with her directions on how her's worked and how she did it?!
