I've been hearing this cat meow for two days, out in the corn field. At first I just ignored it, but when you hear a cat meowing for two days, you start to think it needs something.
So I went to the edge of the corn field and called. It was meowing, plaintively, mewing like a kitten. Kinda howling at times, but not like a cat in heat. I don't think.
I finally narrowed it down to one area, stomped the weeds down that edge the field, and took a styrofoam bowl of canned dog food to set down near where I could hear it. At one point, I think I got a glimpse, kind of a blue-cream color. Later the food was gone, but the cat is still meowing. When I took Penny for the daily rabbit hunt, the cat was still meowing, but Penny didn't pay any attention. However, I think the cat followed me up and down the rows of corn as I walked, so I know it isn't trapped or injured so badly it is immobile.
I don't want a cat. DH certainly doesn't want a cat. I hope the cat is gone tomorrow.
