If you use electrical lighting outdoors, how do you hide the wires or connections so that they are not eyesores? I keep trying to think of ways to do something outside, but I just cannot visualize anything that doesn't involve long extension cords.

One way to do it is to use a PVC pipe and thread the lines through. Bury the pipe a few inches below ground. You shouldn't be using extension cords, though, as it's not safe. Have a professional come and do it right. I hate lines so my landscaping lighting is mostly solar now.

Chickie is right. You can do beautiful things with solar lights now. I do still have a row of electric lights and have buried the cord just below the mulch to hide it. That has worked out well and does not affect the looks at all.

Buried wires

When I was filling in an old fish pond on our property, I reached down one day and got shocked from an old extension cord someone had used to run to the pond. Whoever made the pond had simply buried an extension cord. I didn't know it was plugged in to a building out back. Trust me. Don't bury an electric extension cord by itself.

I can't remember how we did it at our old house, but I suspect we had an extension cord running to the end of the porch. I know. I know.

It was much easier with this house because the former owners had installed a plug-in right near the deck for their hot tub. It has a plastic door over it to keep moisture out and we just plugged the lights right into it and then hid the cords under some mulch.

I would love to use all solar but my problem is that I have not yet found anything that actually stays lit more than 2 or 3 hours into the evening. I have tried several products with no luck of note. Recommendations?
