I have a hard time planting small seeds like lettuce and beets etc....always too thick and thinning seems like such a waste of a good plant. Seed tape is so expensive. Does anyone have any idea how I can make my own? P.S. I've tried all of the gizmos that distribute seed one at a time. They don't work.

Happy Gardening!

Welcome, purpletree!!!! Do a search for seed tape. Someone on here was just doing that project. Remember, you can always eat, whatever you thin. In fact, I know people who grow beets, just for the greens. Good luck!

Here's the post with wonderful directions ...

If I don't get it made up ahead of time, I just lay out strips of paper towel on a tray, moisten with water, place the seed on and take directly to the prepared garden.
A tooth pick dipped in water works great for placing the seed.

I'm not good with those tiny seeds in the garden either... :sick
