Combine in a 16 oz bottle:

15 drops lavender oil
3-4 Tbsp of vanilla extract
1/4 Cup lemon juice.

Fill bottle with water. Shake (the bottle....). Ready to use.

do you think this would work with black flies too? they have already been attacking us in the gardens here in the north. and they are nasty buggers!

Possibly...those vanilla scented car fresheners are touted as a fly repellant for chicken coops. I believe they worked for me last year.

Solucky, I'm going to get a bunch of the vanilla trees and hang them around the edge of my big garden hat like fringe! Think that will work???

You gotta like the traditional method of mosquito repellent. Smear bear grease over your entire body. Not only does it stop mosquitoes from biting you, one it goes rancid it repels just about everything and everybody. :ep
