Though I still haven't messed with the canner... mostly because its so warm and sunny today (hard to believe we had snow yesterday)... I did do some garden work!

:tools

So I managed to plant 2 5 gallon buckets of potatoes, weeded out my empty raised beds and turned in some compost & shredded leaves when I was done. Then I did a dormant spray of neem oil on our fruit trees.

It doesn't sound like much, but after doing next to nothing all winter... I was grateful for this much!

I'm a bit worn out or I would go cut back the perennials and trim my roses.

So going to sleep on the couch while the daughter watches her movie for a few... if she lets me!

Oh lucky you! :D

Our ground is frozen right now and has a light coating of snow. :tongue

But I am loving these longer days (always seems to happen all of a sudden.) And the sunshine is glorious. Can't wait to get out there and start diggin' in the dirt!

YIPEE, glad you were able to get out and do something in the garden. I was out cutting back the cherry trees they were 35' tall now they are 8' tall. I didnt even pull out the chain saw or the pole saw, I just used hand tools for exersize.

It was 73 degrees today and SUNNY! (And windy to boot!)

So I trimmed all my perennials and some trees. I also planted spinach and carrots, I put a row cover up so no frost would end up on them this evening or the birds steal the seed.

Of course, I couldn't find my gardening gloves again and my fingers are bleeding bloody! OUCH!

But its all DONE! Hooray!!!

And I didn't get pictures, but my tulips have sprouted already, and my fennel has come back. I take that as a good sign, so tomorrow I will also plant some lettuce and broccoli. Maybe in a couple weeks I'll start my shelling peas and snow peas.

Today, getting up to 75 I decided to go out and do a few thing.

I had a pile of horse manure from last summer that has sat and broken down since then to a beautiful black pile of goodness, so I used that to fertilize the fruit trees. Its a bit windy today, so I opted not to spray with Neem oil until the winds die after 5pm. I also turned more compost into an empty bed and planted peas & brussel sprouts (in a good spot on the east side of the house where they will get sun until about 2-2:30).

Its been so gorgeous... its making me feel like spring, but I know its not quite yet.

Though the flowers are surely fooled... daffodils are blooming everywhere, and there are buds on several trees swelled to the blooming point.

What blew my mind yesterday is I noticed the leaves on the weeping willows have returned and the swaying branches look like perfect whips of green all around the pond! :ep
