Horticulture LED chip is a specialized light-emitting diode (LED) chip designed specifically for LED grow light, horticulture lighting.These LED chips emit light in specific wavelengths or spectrums that are optimal for photosynthesis, flowering, and other growth processes in plants. When we measure the efficiency of an LED in horticulture lighting, PPE is generally used as the main parameter.

What is PPE?

PPE, or Photosynthetic Photon Efficacy, is a key metric in horticulture lighting that measures how efficiently a light source converts electrical energy into photons that are useful for photosynthesis. It is expressed in micromoles per joule (µmol/J).PPE measures the number of photosynthetic active photons (in the 400-700 nm wavelength range) that are emitted per watt of electrical power consumed by the light source.Please note that the UV wavelength and infrared wavelength are not measured in PPE for horticulturet lighting efficiency, usually use in blue light, red light and white light, and some full spectrum.

Types of LED Chip

There are many types of LED chip for horticulture lighting, such as LED 2835, LED 3030, LED 3535, LED 5730, LED 5050.Each LED model can be customized with different wavebands. Among them, the most important wavebands for plant lighting are blue light 450nm, red light 660nm and white light. For different application scenarios and different LED grow lighting fixtures, the selection of LEDs is also different. For example, dragon fruit grow lights only need some LED 2835, and the light tubes of vertical farms are also LED 2835, which can meet the efficiency requirements, and some lights with higher efficiency , such as top fill light and bar light, you need some high-power LED 3030 or LED 3535.
