When it was very cold, a breaker blew and the lines and pump froze. Here is the fix of the pump that seems to have worked. You can see in the first picture the crack. I used a soldering iron to melt and push a weld into the crack, and a hose clamp.

That is my biggest fear. My hot tub is outside at weekend home, power outaged, good bye.
We have had to replace parts in our 12 year old hot tub this year. It is surrounded with 3 feet of snow and I noticed it was struggling to turn on. I found it was cold but surprisingly not that cold and the circulator was not working. It turned out that the outdoor circuit breaker must have gotten damp in these blizzards. I just had to pull it in and out a few times and it seemed to reset the tub. We have had a lot of 6 degree nights. I think the deep snow and good cover kept the water from freezing.

@Nyboy , could you have a generator installed that would kick on in the event of an outage? I have a couple of clients who have a setup like that because they are gone sometimes for months. I'm guessing it's not cheap though.

Generators aren't that expensive but the larger self starting units do get pricey. I have 6500 down stairs but it's not I have to start it and throw the breakers in the transfer switch.

Nyboy, is your tub heated with gas or electric?

Richard
