Need I say more? The dang cat scales the fence and uses my garden as his litter box, even tho he has a lof of sand all around. he tore up a bunch of my baby tomatoes! and his GF rolls around squashing my pea plants. How do I get them to stay out of there!? I already kicked his butt good an hard once...

Chickenwire laid on the soil, with plants planted thru holes in it, helps reduce digging.

Good luck, have fun,

Pat
That is what I do and so far it works on a small scale... but there is a post somewhere (I have to find the thread) where somewhere is a plant cats hate the smell of you can plant and it keeps them out of the garden or at least so many feet away. I have to find that link! I want it!!!

We put up two strands of electric wire, one about 6" off the ground and another at chest height, with a 3 mile solar charger. My 'fence' right now is just deer netting on T-posts until I'm sure where I want everything, and so far I haven't had any unwanted visitors.

Who is the owner? There is the SSS theory or you might try a motion activated sprinkler.

Problem is WE are the owners....
they are friendly cats and my kids love to hold and play with them so I cant really be terrorizing the cats...

I would suggest the garden hose then. Somewhere on here someone tells how to make them cheap and as cats hate being wet the should get the idea quick, good luck.

Punishing cats for bad behavior does no good since they lack the sense of guilt a dog has when he dipleases you. Cat's are like Rhett Butler,"Frankly my dear, I don't give a da*%"
You might try issuing squirt guns to the kids and telling them any cat in the garden is fair game. The cat will eventually come to associate the garden with a bad experience.
