Sunday my nephew and I went to a large upscale nursery. I wanted a Paw Paw tree that was potted. The first employee I asked about having any paw paw trees looked at me strange and sent me to yard manger. manger was very helpful he checked computer inventory none at that location, but Kingston nursery had 2 in. Kingston is about 1 1/2 hours away, I was down for drive my nephew who drove was not. We had a very heated argument about going. Manager offered to have trees bought to nursery,he would call me when in. How far would you drive for a desired tree or plant?

Usually stores and nurseries will have their product delivered to their location. This saves you a lot of time and gas.

I would probably drive only about an hour or plan it so that I would be going through there or close to it on a future trip. In the fall when we go to our cabin I check craigslist to see if there is anything along the way. That's how I get my pomegranates and persimmons. They are much cheaper out in the country.

I drive 45 minutes to get my feed but I always plan on stopping at an antique store and having lunch in a nice cute place. This way I sort of justify the distance. Plus it's our "date" or field trip.

Not very far. They will ship it or I can live without it.

Only way I drive for something is that is my excuse for really wanting to do (or not do at home) something else.

i just drove an hour this Saturday with my parents to check out a pond supply/nursery to see some beautiful koi & other plants. i was hoping to get Sho Koi food for my new fishies that came today and this place seems to be the closest that carries it. we went to the greenhouse on the way back home that i usually frequent & took a look at some of their stuff too. for future trips i will plan to go on Sundays since that is when the flea markets are done in Rowley, MA & i figure i can enjoy both while in the area.

most times if i find a garden center or someplace i want to visit i will see what is in the area or plan to make it a trip to see family. most times i have to travel near them to parts of MA so might as well let them know i'll be in the area. most of my family is about 1 1/2 away anyways so it's not that much of a trip to me.

It would depend on what it was and how bad I wanted it. Since the nursery will bring it to their closer location, I would sure let them do that.

That site offers jars of jellies, jams, preserves, etc for sale. They list lingon berry preserves as well as cloud berry preserves so they are not the same fruit.

Cloud berries are raspberry-like fruits that are white-ish in color. They are related to currants -- their official name is Rubus chamaemorus while lingon berries are Vaccinium vitis-idaea.

However, if you can get cloudberry plants, I would be forever in your debt.
