Her is a cutie. Horses are herd animals, they need friends. A one only horse is a lonely horse. And I would be willing to bet that he is still in full possession of his testicles. You don't want a stud, even a mini. While it might sound like a good idea, unless you get two or more, it is a bad idea, and probably a herd of minis is a bad idea.

Nyboy, you are too smart to fall into "isn't he cute" trap. A horse is a big responsibility and just because he is small does not lessen the responsibility.

NY is only about 7hrs away. You are WELCOME to come pick up all the manure you want ... any time... I have piles and piles of it....
(and they say cow manure is WAY better for composting than horse)

I would go with goats.
Here are my two cents from a 31 year horse owner. You have NO IDEA how much time it takes to train ANY horse to manners, and it is highly likely that somebody will see you coming and pass off a little mini monster. RE-training can take up to 20x as long as correct training. ALL horses are very smart and look to lead when they are not handled by a leader. Mini's are strong enough to kick an adult in the head and kill you. ONLY horse people should own them, and they should be trained to drive a cart with an adult.
I understand that goats can be like lapdogs, if you spend time with them, and they make good "garbage disposals", like chickens.
