So I just pulled up my cukes. Now I only had three plants but dang can cukes grow! In Montana my cuke was a small spindly little vine that maybe was 3-4. But here... I had three vines that were just monstrous! Any advice for maintaining a cucumber?

O, I'm a lot closer to Montana than Louisiana . . . but, I guess you know that.

To keep cukes out of garden paths, I have set up walls.

Just drive 2 stakes where you want the vines to stop. Then, if your boards are 1 by's (say), drive 2 more stakes 1" from the stakes already in the ground. Stack boards of the right length, on edge.

This should work unless you are putting the wall between the plants and the sun. They may still get enuf light if the wall isn't more than a couple feet tall.

Or, you can turn the Marmots and Mountain Goats in on them ;)!

I grow mine inside a cage made from concrete wire. Works real good.
+1

Only mine haven't done anything at all this year. New seeds going in for late arrivals, hopefully, but the last batch is a lost cause. :(
