One of the guys at my husband's offfice gave him this huge grapefruit today.

I've grown watermelons that were smaller than that!! Did he grow it? Can't wait to see if it tastes good.....

My first thought when I saw that was "Who knew you could cross a grapefruit and a cantalope!"

Well, as I expected, it has a large amount of rind. But, it has great texture and is juicy and sweet!

Maybe in the desert, a thick rind is a good thing!

Did you know that the pith makes great bedding?
The Pommelos I have seen here are always light green or yellow and have very tight shiny skin.

This fellow's tree is a Pink Grapefruit, that normally has "regular" looking fruit.


How is the "pith" made into bedding?
