All of the local TV stations whent ga ga last night to cover the story of the humane society of Vancouver, Wa. that had just flown in 103 mostly Japanese Mastiffs ( also known as Tosas ) a large breed that weighs in at 80- 130 lbs. along with some mongrels. This morning's "The Columbian " has a glorified front page story on this venture. 33 Japanese Mastiffs will be sent to shelters in Wenatchee, Tacoma, Everett, and Walla Walla, 45 others will be sent to San Dieggo, Sacramento, and San Francisco. The humane society is seeking " people who own their own homes rather than rent their homes because there is a good possibility of property destruction. the dogs need securely fenced yards and a home with a quiet, structured routine with no young children or other dogs, they need patient, loving, experienced owners who are willing to take on the challenge of house training and socialization an adult dog". You know what ? Japanese Mastiffs were developed in Japan and used as war dogs as well as fierce guard dogs. Here are dogs that were raised in puppy mill conditions with NO training that could snap at any time similar to our Pit Bull breeds due to their origins and will need constant supervision , secure living arrangements , not to mention HUGE home owner liability insurance policies ( that is IF any insurance company will issue such a policy ). humane society is passing on legal liability onto bleeding heart home owners in legal liability jepardy.

Our small Humane Society does a good job here in Rock County. I'd imagine the bigger the organization, the more wasted funding they have. Sort of like other organizations I know. A group called HSUS should be concerned with humane treatment of United States animals. IMHO

Beyond all of the social conditions that these owners will face, what about bringing new diseases to this country? The cost alone of flying dogs all that way is a preposterous waste of money. I love animals. But my donations go to help children and study disease. Why is kind euthanasia such a terrible thing? Money better spent on spaying and neutering to reduce unwanted litters. I would never bring a dangerous animal around my pets and family. There are so many great dogs out there why take a problem?

Was it confirmed that the last shipment of South Korean dogs were responsible for bring in the canine flu that killed so many family pets?
I know there was some speculation, but I can't remember if the connection was a fact. If so, that alone should be reason to not bring in those dogs. Surely someone will sue HSUS for killing their fur baby.
(I believe the local and state HS are not connected to HSUS)

Yup... confirmed ! Yup ... one and the same . WHY does a group of do gooders put their noses into a centuries old culture that has put dog / cat on their menu just because they think that it is somehow repulsive in their own mind. Protein sources are harder to come by and comes in many forms and dog just happens to provide a ready source. If they think that it is so repulsive, WHY don't they themselves take responsibility to pay for it instead of tugging on other people's heartstrings for donations and saddling others to pay for their own addictive needs and impose others to suffer ill medical consecuences not to mention inevitable legal jeapardy ? Oh , wait ... we have hot dogs on our menu.... wonder where that name came from ?
