My sprouts are starting and I was telling my son all about them this morning when he says "As exciting as this is I have to go." It's only March and they are tired of hearing about the garden. :( It's just starting.

My brother is my gardening buddy but he is working 7 days a week right now and is too tired to chat about seeds. Plus for Christmas I gave him gift certificates for plants so he isn't even growing anything at his house because I am doing it for him. Which is great for him since he doesn't have time anyway.

This is the first time I have been gardening lonely. Which wouldn't be so bad if I could go outside and plant something but it is too wet.

I know how you feel. I try to talk gardening with my married daughter and you can see that she really is not interested. My husband is alittle better. He at least helps me to amend the soil, move plants, help me make bamboo teepees, and move large pots. He doesn't complain but he doesn't enjoy it either.

Yes, it is lonely for me also. I know it will get better when I can share my produce with friends. In the meantime, just get addicted to this site and you will have all the gardening friends you need!;)

We will all be happy to hear about your baby sprouts and how your garden is doing!

I am so blessed to have a next door neighbor that is a fellow gardener. Her husband installs irrigation systems for a living, so we have wonderful time together. Maybe you can find a near neighbor that is "into" gardening?

Yesterday my neighbor and I went to our biggest plant nursery here and we had a grand time!

I will be praying you find a kindred spirit close by.

I have learned to NOT talk about gardening to anyone but my husband, and here.

If I bring it up to neighbor, I end up out in their yard or house helping them with THEIR garden. If I bring it up to my mom, I end up putting in her gardens, planting and weeding. She even forgets to water! I've had to replant so many dead things its not even funny.

So starting the blog and the forum helps... way more then one would think. :D

HunkieDorie, it sounds like you're the little red hen in that story where she plants corn and bakes the bread all by herself! :p She also gets to eat it all by herself!

You can always brag about your garden on here with us. That's what we're here for! And we love seeing pictures!!! :D

If you have time, you might even start up your own blog to talk about your gardening experiences (I use mine like an online diary). It's a lot of fun.

HunkieDorie,

Hang in there, no one else might be as interested and love to garden as much as you do but it will pay off in the end when come back from the garden with freshly picked vegetables and such, then others around would wish to give gardening a try.
Gardening is a way of life, a great exciting way of life, be proud of it!! ;) Dont let anyone stop you from living your dream.

You can always come on this forum for help or suggestions, were here for you! :hugs

:welcome

I'm sure after a couple of seasons, your husband will get interested... mine is actually getting closer to liking more stuff. He just doesn't like my plants in the house all winter.

Verrrrry Funny, they are all to ready to load up on fresh veggies, canned sauces and pickles this summer and fall. (They also complain about the smell when I make the pickles. )

It's OK now. I have recovered from whinny. I went on a retreat this weekend which I try to do during lent and when I came back 90% of what I planted last week was sprouting. They should have sprout around Tues. but everything was coming up. It was awesome.

I have 1 pepper that is being difficult. It has been 20 days and nothing. It's my Cherry Bombs. I think I am going to stick a heating pad under they and get them another week.
