I am going to be a guerrilla gardener! The house next door has gone in to foreclosure. The lady who lived there was nice but she NEVER took care of her yard causing nothing but headaches for me and the neighbor on the other side for years. Now that she is out and the bank is letting the house sit, I am going all rebel!!!

First, I am going to spread Dutch white clover seed all over the grassy areas that aren't so grassy (which is the whole front lawn :p).

Next, the planting bed next to the house is going to be a planting area for butternut squash.

The back yard is going to miraculously sprout pumpkins too. I might put red clover back there.

We are getting a weed torch, so her gravel driveway is going to be my practice area. HA HA HA!!!

My quail HATE black oil sunflower seeds and I have a bag. Guess where those seeds are going??

Worst that can happen is someone buys the house and I don't get to harvest the squash. What will most likely happen is it will sit empty for a couple of years and deteriorate until the bank finally gets it up for sale. There are a LOT of homes for sale in our area and the houses aren't moving AT ALL. If I don't do something it is just going to crank out weeds all year and kill my stuff anyway.

The neighbor on the other side and I have already talked about what we were going to do to keep her yard from ruining ours, so I know she will help. Our yards are small so watering is no problem.

I theoretically could double my growing area this summer :p

In case the bank DOES actually act responsibly, I will make sure I only plant stuff I can afford to lose. It will be fun to see how far I can push it.

WOW! Super rebel! Go girl!

I would sooooooooooooooo do the same thing. Either you lose a few bucks in seeds and a few hours of time, or you double your harvest and keep that yard in check enough when it does go up for sale its not wasted space, maybe even a yard someone else would want. :D

You rock!!!!!!!

That's a great idea! We have a bunch of houses on our street in foreclosure, too. Not a bad idea for making use out of the space....

Guess who was at the house when I got home from work? We think flippers. The foreclosure thing is supposed to be tomorrow morning.

She owed about $159,000. I think the house is worth about $100,000.

I doubt it will actually sell though.

We'll see.

As for my neighbor's house, I really liked my neighbor despite her yard issues. I wish she was still there.

I understand the issues with foreclosure... we grabbed our house up as a short sale, so the owner stayed out of foreclosure by selling it to us for less then they owed the bank. It was a sad situation, this house was vacant for 512 days!

All the owner did was mow and dump rock on the 4 tiny planting beds.

I wish someone took care of the soil for me before we moved in.

Anyhow... I hope either the house gets taken over by someone who cares, or stays vacant long enough for you to do your gardening thing! :D

Best case scenario;

You get your guerilla garden on, the house sells and the new owner carries on what you started, and everyone shares in the harvest!:D:D
