My nephew stopped by he casualty mentioned no water comes out of any faucet at country house. Not sure if well went dry or well pump broke. I sent him down up to turn all fuses off so water conditioner doesn't burn out. Not sure if alarm goes off if power shut down.

things to look at.....
1.the pressure switch contacts at the pressure tank they could be burnt up... if they are replace them once you have..... sit there and listen if you keep hearing them going on and off. you need to replace the check valve at the pump.
the pump has an built in one so you will need to buy one the screws on 1.5" is usual.
if you think the check valve has gone bad take a screwdriver and put to the outlet on the well to your ear and you hear the pump running thats your problem.

2. if you have an gate valve at the pressure tank, it could have rusted out and the gate could
have fell down blocking the water flow...high iron will do that ..dont ask me how i know...

3. there should be a 2x4 box at the well head check to see if you have power to 2 of the wires
120 vac on each wire green or bare copper is your ground. so if you take your meter to the other 2 wires it should read 220 vac.

hope this helps

Ten feet away?!

That well must have concrete casing to protect it from surface water contamination, right?

In that case, I suppose it could go dry.

Digit'S right. Big difference between ground water and surface water. If you were pumping from the creek, you should be able to check the pump for power and operations. The well is certainly more up Major's line than mine. I have my plumbers number. That's the best I can do from here.

Was told hand dug well doubt any kind of cement casing. Did take water sample to water dept for testing come back safe to drink. I grew up in old house never drank water because of lead pipes still don't drink house water. I added a water purification system which made water smell a lot better. I know people here love well water I hate it.

Would a well go dry when creek 10 feet away has water ?

It could, especially if there has been any other drilling in the area....when they frack other wells on your same water table it can disturb your water flow to the well.

I'm doubting that is the problem, though...you won't know until you get a plumber in there. I'm hoping it's nothing much, as well work is pretty costy.
