Oww! That makes me wince just to look at it. I have toe trouble in that I seem to break them fairly often as I am rather klutzty. The big toe it the worst! Brings tears to my eyes remembering. Hope you got an ice pack on it asap and sat with your foot up. Best relief, I know from experience.

I do exactly the same thing, frequently! It happens so often that I think breaking a toe is a future possibility.
Here is what may sound like weird advice: avoid looking over your shoulder while walking. I don't know if this is what caused you to stumble, Heidi, but it is an almost guarantee that I'll end up flat on my face if I look back while walking. Stop and turn, instead. Now, if I could just learn this myself!!
When I turn while walking, I lean forward a little. That should mean that I will need to lift my feet higher but noooo
! I catch my toe on the lawn or carpet and fall.
