Welcome to the garden forum Symphony, I live in SC, 20 miles south of Charlotte to give you an idea of what I do, I start my tomato plant indoors in early February and plant warm weather crops after the full moon in April, that is pretty much last chance of frost, you'll notice there will be a bit of a cold snap around the full moon phase. As far as cold weather plants, I start in the middle of February.. hope that helps.. :)

I'll kind of reinforce what Trunkman said. I'm a little north of you, so I'm a bit later. I start pepper indoors early February and tomatoes late February. If you are starting sweet potatoes indoors from a potato, I start them late February/early March. The cool weather stuff I start from seeds, radishes, beets, peas, carrots, lettuce, spinach, kale, chard, and onions from sets, I start as soon as the soil can be worked, which is late February, early March. As soon as the soil can be worked is more based on it being dry enough for me. For some people, that may mean not frozen. I also transplant broccoli, and cabbage as soon as I can. I find cauliflower a little more susceptible to freezing so I'll probably wait a bit and cover it if frost or freezing is forecast.
