Well I got a $25 B&N gift card for the my birthday, and I have a free shipping pass as well for all orders over $20. Sooooooo.... guess who is shopping at B&N right now looking at garden clearance books?

Look at these prices! WOW! I can get a bunch of stuff....

I already picked out one: The Garden Lover's Guide to the South

Here's the rest of the books that are on sale: Sale list and if anyone has an opinion... please share! I've only spent $4 of my $25 so I can get a couple more. (Though I am really eyeing the The Herb Bible: A Complete Guide to Growing & Using Herbs , even though its not much of a clearance price!)

Wow, I got caught up in that order! I ordered 4 of the gardening books:
The Garden Lover's Guide to the South
Design, Maintenance & Renovation Large Gardens
A Year of Roses
The Herb and Spice Companion

1 cook book for my new crockpot I got for my birthday
Rival Crockpot Recipe Card Collection

...and I spent a little extra just so the free shipping coupon would work, as I was short $0.05 for that to work! So my DD got a curious george book to add to her ever growing collection.

Now that was a fun shopping experience. Now, I can't wait to get everything to read. :D

(Hubby is building me that special bookshelf in my reading nook in the walk-in closet / den / sitting area off our bedroom. Can't wait until that is done. Pictures are available on my husband's facebook fan page.)

Happy Birthday, V!!

I'm glad that the gift IDEA worked out well for you! You should have lots more pleasure perusing those pages!

Be sure and let the guilty party know how enthusiastic you were in your shopping. Maybe just share these posts -- did you know that you gave TEG exactly 36 seconds (minutes) to look at those sale items and get a recommendation to you before you had taken the plunge?

:D

I have a suspicion that you are a fun Momma for a little girl to go shopping with.

Here is wishing you a wonderful year!

I also noticed that you had already responded to your post before we had the chance!

I guess you really don't need us when it comes to spending money!

I'm sure you will enjoy your books. Do let the giver know how much fun you had choosing the books/spending the $!!!!

I have, literally, a library of gardening books. But the two that are my ABSOLUTE favorites (where I can go for ANY problem I encounter) are: "How To Grow Vegetables And Fruits By The Organic Method" (926 ppgs) and "The Complete Book Of Composting" (1007 ppgs). Both are OOP and are by J.I. Rodale. I got them both off of ebay. IMO it is hard to beat books authored by the "father" of the organic gardening movement.

Oops :D When I have money in hand to just spend, it is RARE. So I went over board FAST. Hubby walked in, and in no time he talked me into an overwhelming excitement that couldn't be controlled. But I think I did well.... and sorry for the impatience! :)
