After years of receiving e-mail notices of inheriting millions and being a beneficiary of bank accounts of tragically deseased folks. I was just notified that I won a piece of the pie by Publisher's Clearing House with a check to follow. :th :) :celebrate :love :weee :clap :ya :thumbsup So what is one to do now ? Hire an attorney , financial advisor, a travel agent, a landscape maintenance crew, a real estate agent, interview banks, etc.. :caf

I'm guessing it's enough to make a difference but probably not enough to totally change your lifestyle. I certainly do not need to know how much. In some ways your life may have just gotten harder but some problems are nice to have. Congratulations. Good things do occasionally happen to good people.

You probably have the accounting and tax preparation in hand. I'd suggest both a financial advisor and a lawyer. I don't know who your wife knows, but get one and get someone they are used to working with for the other, though they probably won't interact that much with each other. Your wife will probably interact a bit with the financial advisor in setting up accounts and investing the money. You may even get involved with some of that. The attorney is more to set up trusts and draw up a will if you don't have one. Many fortunes are lost because the inheritance is not set up right though your immediate interest is saving as much on taxes as you legally can. You might check to see if Publisher's Clearinghouse has some advice about that. They just might.

I guess I'll tell my story. My wife's great grandfather used to be one of the richest men in his state. When he died his lawyers had it set up so the tax hit for his wife to inherit wasn't too bad. But she died unexpectantly a couple of months later. Most of that fortune was lost because the lawyers were sitting on their behinds instead of getting her affairs in order.

My grandmother faithfully sent in every PCH entry she ever got. She got back notices of YOU WON! followed by.... another chance to enter the final drawing!

My mom was also a devotee of PCH contests. She was so sure she'd win the big one and we could all live together on the huge acreage she would buy. She seemed to forget the individual personalities of her offspring that would make that more of a Hatfield and McCoy thing than a Waltons series.

I thought PCH showed up at your door with a bouquet of roses and balloons and an oversized check...?

Only on carefully staged TV commercials. Always wondered....what if they threw a YOU WON party on the front yard and no one was home??

I just received a check from Publishers Clearing House via US Mail. :celebrate The amount that I won is ... drum roll ... the PRINCELY SUM of $ 10.00. and a gift offer to enter for their $2,000,000 in cash, $10,000 / week for life, and a Cadilac. with 7 preselected oportunity numbers to win it all. :th AND a whole packet for me to order a slu of trinkets and magazines. PLUS a plastic card the size of a cridit card stating that if I win a major prize, I am to present it to the Prize Patrol and they will give me a $5,000 bonus. :clap Now I can use the proceeds from my winnings to buy a "happy meal" or use it as a down payent for our 47th Anniversary dinner at the prize winning diner "Cathy's Corner Cafe" in Vancouver , Wa. Boy oh boy that joint serves up some mighty good vittles and PLENTY of it per dish. :thumbsup
