In all my years of gardening, I have never seen these in the beans before. Dew and I were just out pulling the plants and picking off what beans were left when I saw several of them:
They appear to be attached to the leaves at one end.
Thanks Cat. I just found them online myself. That's what they are alright. They're too late. We're pulling the bush beans today. I have to go out and spray the easy garden beans though.
Ugh, they were SO bad last year, but for some reason, I haven't seen them at all this year. Guess that makes up for the abundance of Japanese beetles I've got this summer.
Whoooph, sure glad I've never seen any of those units! If I ever did though, I'd pay each one of the kids around here 2 dollars for each lizard or frog they find and bring to my garden. One gal has offered to bring me some praying mantises.
Those units look like they'd be gourmet morsels as far as Bluebelly Lizards are concerned!
It's more of a cocoon stage. The beetle will emerge from the (chrysalis??) It's the final morph from egg to beetle. I've been studying them a lot since I found them. Know thy enemy, and all that...I've never had a problem with Mexican Bean Beetles before. Darn illegal immigrants
