In the middle of the Hudson river valley is the Vanderbilt mansion in Hyde Park Ny. The Grounds and house are open to the public, 211 acres of woodland trails along the river. A restored Italian garden, Mr. Vanderbilt collected rare trees from around the world. Many of the trees are still standing 100 years later. Some of the trees that only the super rich could afford are now common in everyday landscaping. Painters came from all over the world, to paint the Hudson river valley. If you are in the area, it is worth the time to visit.
