Thankfully, there's been a Great Big moon so very, very high in the night sky lately!

We are on the other side of the Solstice - that sun is coming back but, right now . .

. I'm turning on the lights!

I have always had the lights in the coop set for 14 hours of daylight even though I'm only getting 4 eggs a day from 9 hens. I usually sneak into the coop after dark and strew treats around to keep them occupied between lights on and sunrise. By getting them started early, most of my eggs are ready to bring inside by 8:00 in the morning.

Once again, it amazes me how the sun sets a little later each day since December 19th, but it continues to come up later till January 19th.
I know, someone on here tried to explain it to me,(or was that about the difference in tide height?) but I can be unbelievably dense in some areas.
Regardless, personally, I don't mind the dark mornings, but wish it stayed light a little longer in the evening.

I swear I can literally feel the days getting longer, minute by minute. I used to have a lot of trouble with SAD until I starting taking vit D-3. I am totally solar-powered. The sun came out today and I got so much done!

I hear ya Journey! I'm like that too, I am so energetic and productive when the sun shines. These gray gloopy days find me drooping around listlessly, hardly able to concentrate on accomplishing a single chore.

You might enjoy playing games with the weather. It doesn't actually accomplish anything but it seems to be therapeutic ;).

As best as I can tell, the low today was 30f, the high was 31f :th. When was it that we have had a "meaningful" storm? Weeell, the WS has the local records/means up already! Turns out that we've had like 20 percent above average 90+ days and quite a few more days below 32f. Still, hit the average annual temperature almost right on the nose!

Erratic thermometer! On reflection, a year where we just might have been blessed to hit top dead center. And . . . where our gardening accomplishments deserve highlighting! Silliness like this lifts some of the darkness.

Steve :)
