A friend posted to her face book a photo of her wooded garden space. I admired her PINK Lily Of the Valley. She gave me a nice big clump. Now to find the perfect place to plant them .
It took me three attempts to get a white LOV to survive in my shade garden. I've tried pink ones three times already. Now that the white ones are on the march, I'm hesitant to make another try with the pink.
.....and I've been ripping them out, as far as the fragrance goes I don't think I've ever sniffed them and yes they are just as much a spreader as the white. I used to have the white with the variegated leaves but they reverted to plain leaves so out those came too. I do have the double white and have just twigged on to the fact that they don't like too much shade. I got my doubles from my son's garden where they had them in full sun and blooming their fool heads off. I brought them home and planted them in the shade, they've multiplied nicely but nary a bloom.

@Smart Red I tried the pinks about 3 times from mail order sources. I was not going to try again until my friend offered up a big clump of blooming plants. We will see.
Funny I tried 3 times with pink also, they where mail ordered bare root. When I saw them potted at nursery, I figured 4 must be a charm. I had a vase on my desk of lily of valley they where at house when I bought it. Client very into flowers commented how florist would go crazy for my plants, she never saw such long stems on them.
