Yesterday, my wife and I whent to see the Insternational Cat Show in Portland , Ore. ... $8 for parking, then $ 10 per person admission. Many breeds were on display from several Western States , one from Nebraska , and one from Canada. There were at least TWICE as many vendors as exhibitors selling their wares at overpriced prices. Since we had 7 different Siamese cats over the years, we wanted to especially see them. Our last female Siamese died at age 19 a couple years ago. There were seven exhibitors with a total of 27 Siamese cats. We watched the judging... judge would pick up each cat out of it's cage, place it on a table and stroke it all over it's body , return the cat to it's cage, and on to the next one. He did NOT say a word, finally just took ribbons to the cages and placed them according to the rankings. NO reasons as to why the palcings were given from best of breed to best 12th of breed. HUH ?????? Same thing for the other breeds from every other judge too. CONFUSING for anyone not familiar with any breed :hu . We walked the isles and it seemed that just about every cage had a brown ribbon ( among other ribbons ) on it for best or 2nd best of breed. All but one exhibitor was bussy playing with their cat, eating something, reading a book or on their cell phone. Not one exhibitor even offered to talk to us save one person exhibiting bobtail cats. We both finally left, totally unimpressed, and felt financially ripped off :rantas last year's State cat show was much better at 75% LESS cost, granted with fewer cats and fewer exhibitors, but just as many vendors. :caf

In my early 20s a friend talked me into going to a catshow with her. She had 2 cats entered. I made the mistake of not taking my own car. I have never been so bored, was the first and last cat show i ever went to.

Did the same thing at a poultry show a few years back, had a few entered, even won good placement. My first and last time ever. Most boring thing I'd ever done in my life and my life hasn't been an amusement park, I tell ya. I couldn't get out of there fast enough and I left early...very frowned upon in these shows.

How boring does your life have to be when that's the highlight of your year, show season?
