Planted romaine and red sail lettuce I got at Home Depot last week. Last night it got down to 28. I covered the bed and put a kerosene lantern on very low underneath also. Lettuce did great. Tonight it is suppose to be about 31, is the cover sufficient or do I need to put the kerosene lantern in again.

Thanks for your help :)

Lettuce can take some frost and even come back from frost damage fairly well.

Are you saying that you got lettuce plants from Home Depot? Certainly, sown lettuce seed doesn't need to be protected from 28F and 31F.

Yes, I purchased romaine and red sails lettuce plants. From what I'm reading they are very cold tolerant but I had hoped to get advice from the wise people here :)

my lettuce transplants have been in my raised garden beds for two weeks now and our nighttime temps are around 31-32 F. They do absolutely fine.....uncovered.
