I guess there is not much more to say than that. I've got some space and some seeds. I guess it won't hurt to try. But if anyone has some knowledge on this, please let me know.
I'd give it a try. You may not get any chard big enough to harvest this fall, but if you cover it when the temperature gets in the mid 20's or so, it should live through the winter and start producing early spring.
I planted some chard last fall, nursed it through the winter, and am still getting chard from it. You are further south than me so it should work for you. The summer here was a lot cooler and wetter than usual so getting it to last through the summer may be unusual, but I'd expect a very good harvest in the spring.
