I noticed this white stuff on my zucchini this morning. I didn't see it last night.

(Yes, I know I desperately need to weed.)

This is a pumpkin that was transplanted from the compost bin. It drooped quite a bit, has now perked up, but now I see a dead leaf. The others look fine. Normal?

Sorry, I've never done any squash before and I don't want to lose everything!

The first photo looks type a variety that just has whitish patches in the coloring. The last with a wilted leaf-looks like a damaged leaf.

Ok, I'll just keep an eye on it for now then. The tag for the zucchini just said "zucchini", no name, so I don't know what kind it is.

Thank you!

You should take the damaged leaf off.

Zucchini is prone to powdery mildew. Anticipating it, here's something I do every year: set out fresh plant starts a 2nd time, about July 1st.

I don't know your location but this works for me. I may need to pull all or some of the 1st planting late in the season. The 2nd planting begins to kick out fruit about the 1st of September and the young plants have more resistance to mildew at that time. Here, they don't have much more time before the 1st frost but there is nice fruit until then.
