We brought home a chunk of Mother-in-laws Tounge that was tossed in a friends compost heap about 3 years ago. It was of course bare rooted. We potted it and cut back brown ends. It spends summer in the deck and winter on top the kitchen cabinet. This summer is hot and dry... So I have watered more than usual and .... IT IS BLOOMING!!!! (I did not know that they ever bloomed!)

How cool! I have a "salvage" mother in laws tongue plant as well, i've never treated it well enough to convince it to bloom though!!

My mom has one that has bloomed... only due to complete and total neglect! I have a small one, from hers- that has never bloomed. Very neat looking, CarolDee!

Very nice Carol! Lesa has it right, they seem to thirve with a fair amount of neglect. Also you might be surprised at how long they will thrive in what looks to be a very over crowded pot.

DW repotted one and sperated it into 4 more pots, she had to use a drywall saw to cut it apart.
