We had the most amazing gutter-washer a few days ago!

Really, it was 2 cloudbursts! There may have been thunder but I didn't hear it. The pounding of the rain against the house ... :hide It reminded me of a storm the first year we lived in this home. I suppose that there may have been another like these in the 23 years we have lived here but these sort of storms are very rare. There was standing water in places on my sloping, glacial till yard!

Then, I checked the weather stations: less than a quarter inch here, less than a quarter inch there! Wow. Really local! I'm happy. Tender plants were under cover, next to no hail fell, and I won't have to run the sprinklers for another week :).

yes, hail from some of the storms can do a lot of damage to tender plants. a few years ago had one episode where hail punched holes through all the large squash plants leaves and trounced a lot of bean plants. but everything recovered eventually, i was rather surprised, the leaves seems to get holes through them and were broken on boundaries that meant the whole leaf did not die back. only a few leaves were completely destroyed.

it rained lightly a few times last night and just started up again this morning. this is exactly what we needed. a gentle round of rains to get things nailed down again. it was getting a bit dusty out there and with the higher wind gusts we've been having i couldn't get to weeding i needed to do without having ski goggles on to keep the sand out of my eyes.

oh, and if it matters (haha) in my original post i mentioned dvd, but i can see that perhaps i wasn't clear enough. it started raining in the show she was watching at the same time it started raining here. :)
