On Saturday morning when I let the dog out, this is what greeted me...

Just waiting in the Pine tree over the chicken coop (do you see them?)

Here they are close up.

I am glad my girls are all secure! These hawks are not afraid of humans or dogs. They just sit from their
perch in the Pine tree and watch us.

They're certainly beautiful! Too bad they're there to cause trouble. Glad your girls are safe! I got too complacent and lost 5 of mine to hawks last month. :(

Are those the hawks that were at your bird bath earlier Rebbetzin? This morning as I was ready to go to work I looked out the kitchen window and saw a hawk swoop low over my chicken pen, by the time I made it out the door he was making another low pass, but then he flew off. Whew! ...but I know he'll be back. It's good you have a covered run with a patient pair like that hanging around.

Beautiful birds but scary when you have chickens. We use to have one that roosted at night in the pine tree in our neighbors yard right next to our yard. I always had to make sure the girls were in when he was coming home to roost.

Yes, we have a breeding pair in the neighborhood. They had two chicks this spring. Now we have all four keeping watch for anything they might be able to eat.
