Does anyone have a good way of doing this? Last yr they ate almost all of them. I wasnt sure if birdnetting laid on the ground then on a small fence would work or not. Any suggestions?

A dog? Preferably one that does not itself like to eat strawberries? ;)

I betcha a chipmunk would go thru bird netting, at least the bird netting I've seen. You might have to go to 1/2" hardware cloth. I suppose 1" chickenwire *might* work. Either way it would be pricey unless you only have a tiny strawberry bed. And you'd have to make sure it was tight to the ground around the edges. Not all crops are compatible with all wild animals, unfortunately.

Good luck,

Pat

Hardware cloth + dog.

The dog only has to, uh, mark the area and chase a few every other week or so. Chipmunks seem to be able to remember things for a couple of weeks, at least they do remember enormous shaggy, barking, slobbering fangs bearing down on them like Fenrir loosed from his chains.

Make chipmunk stew!

Just kidding.
My dogs eat strawberries right along with the chipmunks so I think hardware cloth is the best solution. Good Luck fighting the little buggers.
