Well, its december, and we've had a TON of lady bugs around here. They keep getting in the house, I find dead ones in the window sill. I had 3 on my front porch storm door?! Whats up with ALL the lady bugs!?!?!?

They are probably Asian lady beetles. They're different from the good kind that hang out in the garden and eat aphids.
Every time there is an unexpectedly warm day in winter, they hatch and swarm around. (I'm in VA) I used to try to 'save' them and put them out side when they got in the house, but now I just suck em up with the vacuum.

This must be a southern thing, it never happened up north in PA...

They're up here in WI, too! When the first hard frost comes, the soybean leaves die back and the Asian beetles come swarming out of the fields, especially on subsequent warm days. Yuck!

I agree with meandmygals. they live in the soybeans and when beans gone they move into the house. We have them until they move out in the spring. Vacuum or kill them doesn't matter, more just keep coming (litterally) out of the woodwork.

Hmmmm, yeah, we have had them too. I didn't know they were "bad" ladybugs.

They get so bad here that the neighbor's barn is literally covered with them--1000s upon 1000s. I really dislike chemicals and don't use them in my home or garden, but they are so bad that we actually have a pest control company come to spray the outside of our house. They were brought into the US to control aphids on soybeans, but like so many other things have become a new problem! Now we're also seeing a lot of Japanese beetles, bigger, iridescent green, very crunchy and hungry for EVERYthing!
