Leaf Lettuce wont sprout.

I always grow leaf lettuce in the spring. I live in north west Arkansas. this year I can't get my lettuce to sprout. I have planted 3 times. has any one else had this problem this spring? my brother has the same problem.
I have sewed black Simpson and another kind which has slipped my mind. I think it was grand rapids.
I never had had this problem before and I have grown leaf lettuce for years. I have bought seed from 3 sources in our town.

I had some problems last year but that was during our wet spell. After the summer we had its hard to remember how wet the spring was.

I got Red Sails leaf lettuce and a Mesclun mix from Chicken Holler on Highway 62 in Farmington and had good germination this spring. When I sow the seeds I keep the area damp until they are up. Not soggy wet, just damp.

Yep--it has to Stay wet to sprout. Try covering it with plastic bags after you water, if it's going to be dry and/or windy.
