Lemon or basil?

I live in the middle of the woods in Va. I found a lot of very small trees (most are smaller then saplings), that smelled like lemon. The leaves are broad with the pointed end. No noticeable teeth like edges. It is differently a "woody" plant so I was not sure what it could be, thoughts?

Try googling fragrant sumac or lemon sumac. Maybe you can identify the leaves.

Or Lindera benzoin, aka spice bush

Thank you everyone for your help, I have come to the conclusion that it is spice bush. Does anyone know of any uses for it?
