I may have "jumped" the garden planting 'string'. Have just planted the Sugar Snap Peas, Collards, Ithaca Head Lettuce and Buttercrunch Lettuce seeds in the garden. Just COULDN'T stop myself. May not "work", but I'm used to "do overs".
It sure lifts my spirits, though, to look out at the garden and see all those little markers sticking up. Hope they will be plant markers and not seed thombstones.......you never know what will happen, in gardening, when you "push the envelope".

Oh no... I think you may fair well with the cool weather versions, like lettuce and such... are these covered in plastic, like a little greenhouse grown house? (aka. hoop garden)

If its too cold them may shrivel up when they sprout if there is a cold snap too early.

They aren't right now. Have got hay to cover, if it's needed, before they sprout (I hope, I hope, I hope) and row cover, for when they break ground (I hope, I hope, I hope). Don't get much cold weather down here in zone 8a (this last artic blast, being the exception).
Keeping my fingers crossed and ready to "take action".

Since you're in AL, I'll bet you can. I've got lettuce going under a row cover right now in zone 6 and we just came out of some very cold weather.

boggy- if I had a horse tranquilizer available, I'd use it!!! It is really depressing when you love gardening to be unable to do it, for half the year!!! Think of me when you have your hands in the dirt!

True that, Lesa.....and I will.

I wish everyone could garden, pretty much year round, like we can.
