Who else here loses tools (and other things) on their own land or in their own houses (or out buildings)? My most recent loss is a pair of pruning shears. I've retraced the last times and places where it was used, but to no avail. Finally I gave up and bought a replacement, but still hoping to stumble upon the lost pair. I hate losing things!

Yep. Been there, done that.
Then, you find them and realize that it made some kind of sense Where you left the tool.
All that I have learned is that when hand tools made or broke your business, people would carefully store their metal tools in oil to keep them from rusting.
Don't buy oil! It is highly likely that you already have 10W30 that you bought for your mower that has expired and that works Just Fine.
When I find my lost padlock keys, which I lost while working in the south pasture 3 years ago, I will let you know!
Since then, I have put together one springlock with all padlock keys and at least ONE FULL SET of same in another and inside location.
I think if you start analyzing how you transport your tools, you will discover where you left them.
For instance, I usually have some kind of bucket and I have had My Fiskers pruners land there before.
Sometimes our habits land our tools in the garage or in the basement.
The padlock keys really puzzle me bc I tilled an entire area the day the They disappeared. :th
