Verizon moblie did not feel death was good enough excuse for early termination of contract. After my brother died I talked to many mangers about fee for cancelling his phone on my policy. All said same sorry, cannot do any about it. My choices came down to paying over $400 or having it go on my credit report as nonpayment of loan. Not wanting to have my credit effected I paid the fee ( I did play with idea of sending payment in all pennies) Today in the mail verizon sent me a survey to fill out, they wanted know how they are doing. I took great pleasure in filling it out!!!!! I let them know how I really feel about them. I know survey will end up in shredder before any one reads it, but it made me feel good to write and mail it.

Interesting. Since you mentioned Verizon in your post, a Sprint pop-up ad is now showing. Man, these guys are good with targeting their advertisements.

My last online appraisal of a vendor didn't show up either, but I didn't think it would. I used to have to hand out some surveys to what were considered my "customers". I hated doing it. The way it was used was just a waste of time but it was required.

One scam I've seen a few times. Some people are rated on how fast they respond to customer's complaints. So as soon as they receive a complaint they send out a response "Your message is important to us. We will respond soon". That's the last you hear from them. They met the requirement to respond to the complaint. The requirement said nothing about it being a useful response. Then they have the gall to advertise how fast they respond to customers complaints.

Nyboy, AT&T was great when my parents passed, about taking them off my phone account. Of course, it wasn't the whole account, just extra phones. You might consider changing phone companies next time your contract is up, and tell them exactly why.

But it wasn't YOUR death, Nyboy. That was your problem. Sometimes using your name to help others just doesn't work out in the long run.

We won't even get into how we lost a $10,000 car doing that.

Report them to BBB. While the BBB had no teeth, companies don't like bad reports in there about them.
